Massage therapy provides preventative care for people of all ages - you don’t need to have an injury or illness to have a massage. A therapist can detect areas that may become a problem and prevent an injury before it occurs!
MaryLou Bourgeois

Mary Lou grew up in the town of Port Perry, Ontario where she began working locally in the hospitality industry which continued when she later moved to Banff, Alberta. After several years in the hospitality business, she felt it was necessary to find a different way to help people.
She attended the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Sutton, Ontario graduating in 1995. Following graduation she moved to Toronto, where she set up her own practice. In 2002 she moved to Nova Scotia and settled here in the community.
Mary Lou now lives in Hubbards where she enjoys the area for walking and the farmers market.
During your treatment Mary Lou uses various techniques she has learned over the years, such as myofascial release, cupping massage, laser therapy, and Guasha to individualize each treatment. Mary Lou also has studied reflexology, reiki and aromatherapy. She looks forward to continuing her journey here in our clinic with the other therapists.

Aimee Redmond

Aimee was born in Burlington, Ontario, shortly after her parents immigrated from Scotland. A love of sports and helping others sparked an interest in the human body. After watching her mum suffer with pain and dysfunction for years after a car accident, where traditional medicine provided no relief, she began the journey to become a Massage Therapist.
Aimee graduated from the Massage Therapy program at Sir Sandford Fleming College in Peterborough ON, in 1999. She has worked collaboratively with physiotherapists, chiropractors and osteopaths. Aimee mentored with a massage therapist that trained her in deep tissue techniques. As her career has developed 0ver 25 years she has learned to incorporate those with less invasive techniques to achieve the same relief for her clients. She has completed 2 levels of craniosacral training with The Upledger Institute, Soft tissue release with Stuart Taws, and cupping massage. She has recently been exploring and learning about oncology massage and is hopeful about the comfort it can provide cancer patients during and after treatment. If you’re booking for oncology massage please let the clinic know at the time of booking. Aimee has also taken a special interest in the treatment of TMJ dysfunction. After witnessing her mum’s journey after a car accident she was motivated to help find relief for people experiencing jaw pain and dysfunction. Over the years she has developed a treatment to address the soft tissue structures, including the fascia, to provide pain relief and increase functionality.
Aimee moved to our community in 2004, and lives with her husband and two daughters in Hacketts Cove. She worked as a clinic supervisor and teaching assistant at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy soon after moving to Nova scotia. Aimee loves getting to know people and enjoys seeing a wide cross section of clients from the community. She looks forward to any opportunity where she can help her clients to leave the treatment room feeling better and will use her 25 years of experience and knowledge to customize a treatment to meet your needs.

Melanie Dowell

Melanie’s interest in massage therapy began in 1995 while she was doing administrative duties in a massage therapy practice while attending college in Montreal. She decided this was the path for her and moved back to Nova Scotia where she grew up to complete the Massage therapy diploma program.
Melanie graduated from ICT Northumberland College in 2000 and is a member of the Massage Therapists Association of Nova Scotia. She went on to complete the CMTO board exams in Toronto upon graduation.
She has been practicing Massage Therapy ever since. She has worked with physiotherapists, chiropractors and operated a home-based massage therapy clinic. She joined St. Margaret’s Bay Massage Therapy in 2017 and really enjoys working with the team of exceptional therapists at this clinic.
During her long career as a massage therapist she has seen and treated many musculoskeletal conditions. Her treatments are enhanced by the additional courses she has completed in Cranial Sacral therapy, Reflexology, cupping and in chronic pain management. Her treatments accomodate the goals of the client. Client comfort is her top priority.

Alicia Doucette

Alicia began her journey into health and wellness through the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, graduating in 2018. She became part of the St Margaret’s Bay Massage Therapy team upon graduation. Her love of anatomy inspired her to return to the college in 2020 to teach Gross Anatomy and Palpation to the first year students..
Alicia’s massage treatments are tailored for each individual according to their goals. She uses mostly General Swedish Massage techniques in combination with joint mobilizations, fascial work and cupping therapy.
Alicia enjoys providing elements of relaxation throughout all her treatments and especially enjoys working on the head, neck and face. She is happy to provide knowledge and resources to help patients along their personal wellness journey.

Robyn Harding
Robyn is a certified foot reflexologist and has been in practice since 2000.She is a passionate advocate of healthy living, with interests in exercise, nutrition and mindfulness. She enjoys any time spent in Nature- swimming, kayaking, hiking and relaxing at the beach.

Jackie worked at Clayton Park Chiropractic Center from graduation until 2005 and also taught at Northumberland College. In September 2005, she made the move to Health First Chiropractic in Halifax and in January 2014, Jackie joined the St Margaret’s Bay Massage Therapy team.

Mary Jane Mallett-Longley

MJ graduated in 1999 from ICT Northumberland College in Halifax. After graduation she went on to complete the CMTO board exams in Toronto. She has been a has been a member of the Massage Therapist’s Association of Nova Scotia ever since.
MJ has been part of St. Margaret’s Bay Massage Therapy since 2012 and prior to that worked in numerous multidisciplinary clinics within HRM. This allowed her to gain experience helping adults, children and athletes achieve optimal muscular health.
MJ has focused most of her time on deep tissue massage techniques, pregnancy treatments, infant massage and, in the last few years, she has enjoyed working with athletes.
Now that MJ’s two children Evan and Amber are getting older and her little sidekick Bruno is trained, MJ decided to make a big change in her career last year and is now working for the Province of Nova Scotia full time. However, she does continue to provide massage therapy on a part-time basis.

Born and raised in Halifax Nova Scotia, Tatum graduated from Northumberland College in 1999 with a diploma in massage therapy. She joined the Massage Therapy Association as a student and has been an active member ever since. Born and raised in Halifax Nova Scotia, Tatum graduated from Northumberland College in 1999 with a diploma in massage therapy. She joined the Massage Therapy Association as a student and has been an active member ever since.
After her studies in Halifax she travelled to Toronto to write her board exams to become registered in the province of Ontario. She started her career at Renova Integrated Health Services in Bedford Nova Scotia where she spent her first five years gaining experience from many different health care professionals in a multidisciplinary setting.
In 2005 Tatum decided to take an opportunity at Glenbourne Chiropractic where she spent one year before having her first child. In May 2006 she took on the challenge of opening her own clinic here in St. Margaret’s Bay and has been here ever since! She feels so blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing therapists and staff that have joined St. Margaret’s Bay Massage Therapy over the last number of years. She couldn’t have asked for a better team!
